Self Pay patients receive a 40% discount on charges. Our policy is all or nothing below 400% of the FPL we do not do a sliding scale. If the patient has out of pocket costs that are greater than 10% of their gross income these are considered catastrophic and would qualify for 100% write off. Policy updated March 2022.

In addition to the income-based Financial Assistance set forth below, Marin General Hospital offers financial assistance to insured patients with high medical costs, patients with special financial circumstances such as homelessness or bankruptcy, and patients who are not otherwise covered by health insurance, regardless of income. The guidelines for this assistance are outlined in the attached policy. This facility also offers a prompt payment discount of at least 10% to patients that are able to submit payment within 30 days of billing. No significant change to policy, just additions and clarifications. Also updated ED physicians requirements.
